Bio-energy Infrastructure Grants

A new round of the Bio-energy Infrastructure Scheme was launched on 6 June 2008. Projects must be based in England, and is open to farmers, foresters, businesses,  local authorities and charities.

The Scheme provides grants to help the development of the supply chain required to harvest, process, store and supply biomass to heat, combined heat and power, and electricity end-users. For more information follow link to woodfuel grants >>

First wave of Wyre Woodfuel Champions trained!

The first free training course took place on the 20th and 21st of March.  Thank you to Stephanie Roux from Forest Research Technical Development who delivered the training along with Heartwoods project manager Andy Grundy.

Ewan Bent from Midlands Wood Fuel (MWF) kindly gave a presentation to the group about how he set up the company and answered questions on the highs and lows of supplying woodfuel in the region.

Ewen also gave the group a tour of the 100kW KWB wood chip boiler installation at Bewdley School in Worcestershire.

We will now be working with the champions to start visiting privately owned woodlands around the Wyre, to assess their potential for woodfuel.  We will also be looking for potential companies and organisations that might be looking for a new boiler, wood fuelled of course!

Business Link are holding a series of workshop events around the region throughout the first half of the year. They are mainly aimed at new business start ups and those in their early years, but will provide information on the services Business Link can provide.
