Low Carbon Buildings
Programme
Phase 1 -
The
programme provides grants for the installation of
microgeneration technologies in a range of buildings to
include households, community organisations, public, private
and the non-profit sectors, for
domestic and business installations.

Phase 2 - Grants
for the installation of microgeneration technologies are
available to public sector buildings (including schools,
hospitals, housing associations and local authorities) and
charitable bodies.
Applications are being accepted now. It is currently
anticipated that funds will be committed through to
mid-2009, but this will depend on the actual rate of
applicationsfor public and charitable sector buildings;

Carbon Trust
The
Carbon Trust site has lots of information in how to reduce
carbon emmisions. They also offer interest free loans to
help you do it including loans for renewable energy
installations.

Bio- Energy Capital Grants Scheme
The grant
was opened on April 9th, with a six week application window,
ending 20th May 08. The scheme supports the installation of
biomass-fuelled heat and combined heat and power projects in
the industrial, commercial and community sectors. For

Subject to funds being available, Defra hopes to run a
further application round in Autumn 2008, and several rounds
in 2009 and 2010. Details of these rounds will be announced
in due course.
Bio- Energy Infrastructure Scheme
A new
round of the Bio-energy Infrastructure Scheme was
launched on 6 June 2008. Projects must be based in
England, and is open to farmers, foresters, businesses,
local authorities and charities.
The
Scheme provides grants to help the development of the
supply chain required to harvest, process, store and
supply biomass to heat, combined heat and power, and
electricity end-users.
The
deadline for receipt of applications is:

Noon, 5 August 2008 for applications from businesses; and
· - Noon, 5 September 2008 for applications from
producer groups.
The scheme is administered on Defra's behalf by TUV NEL

Enhanced Capital Allowances
Under
the ECA scheme you can claim 100% capital allowance on
qualifying investments in equipment in the first year.
Businesses are now able to write off the whole cost of their
investment against their taxable profits of the period
during which they make the investment;

Grants are available for renewable energy installations
of up to £1000.
